TNA Impact - The Future of Ric Flair
We'll be discussing some potential story spoilers concerning the 2/17/11 episode of Impact, so you might want to check back later if you haven't watched yet. Otherwise, we're just going to jump into one of the big story points from last night. The show opened by sewing the seeds of doubt between the Bischoff-led Immortal and Ric Flair.
Try as they might though, TNA did not have me believing that Flair might do anything other than turn on Fortune, which of course he did later in the show. The discontent between Flair and AJ Styles has been a slow build over the last six months, and this outcome has been inevitable for some time now. I do sort of question whether Flair has fully broken from Immortal or if this is just a turn against AJ Styles. If this is the latter, I would have expected Flair to remain as the Manager for Frank Kazarian. Kaz, although one of the best of TNA's great in-ring talents, probably could still benefit from the Ric Flair rub. TNA appears to be going another angle with this though, as Traci Brooks returned last night and appears to be aligning herself with Kazarian. On a side note, a big welcome back to the original Knockout! Good to have you back, Traci!
That leaves Beer Money, whose Robert Roode proved on the mic last week that they have no need for Flair. As a part of Immortal I'm not sure what role Flair could serve either as I don't see Ric Flair as managing Rob Terry or Gunner and Murphy. This could be the direction that TNA goes, and these guys could use a mouth piece, but I feel like this association just wouldn't be using Flair to his full potential. I just don't see Flair being instrumental in grooming these particular Immortal members into future superstars. Agree? Disagree? Leave a comment below!
